Sterntaler was established by Martina in 2002.
Martina is an accredited EFA level 1 Coach and is currently training
to become a level 2 Coach. She has competed extensively in EA
Eventing up to and including 3* 3DE all over Australia, as well as in Dressage and Showjumping competitions .
Martina currently competes in all 3 Olympic disciplines with several young Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds, and also with our handsome, black Warmblood stallion 'Sterntaler Rendezvous'.
Martina's aim is to create harmony between horse and rider through improving the rider's skill and feel, as well as developing their balance and confidence. It is impotent to her that horse and rider enjoy the work equally and develop a partnership.
Martina is experienced in recognizing what is important in order for riders to overcome fear and feel safe with horses, and promotes confidence in the horses that she trains.
Martina is passionate about horses and about her role as an instructor and coach. She loves and values all aspects of working with horses, whether it be as a competitive rider or simply teaching a young horse to lead and lunge.
Martina takes 'Team Sterntaler' out to competitions and has taught many riders from the beginner stage through to becoming successful competition riders.
Evelyn is one of our most experienced instructors. She is in high demand by adults and children alike because of her patient and encouraging nature and has been part of the Sterntaler family for 10 years now. She started as a beginner rider and then made the transition to working with horses and has now been teaching for 4 years. Evelyn is currently undertaking her EA Introductory Coaching Certificate and works with a number of clients' horses as well as her own.
Evelyn has successfully competed in Ev95 Eventing and equivalent Dressage and Showjumping competitions.
Her goal is to give every rider the chance to improve in every lesson, ensuring the riders gain confidence and have fun at the same time.
Evelyn is a keen student and takes regular lessons herself to improve her knowledge and skills.
Natalie started horse riding when she was three years old. She started training young and abused horses when she was 14, and started teaching when she was 15 years old. Horses have always been her biggest passion and she couldn’t imagine being without them. She is now 21 years old and has just started studying Psychology at university, and plans to work as a psychologist for children who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence. She is aiming to use horses as therapy animals when she completes her degree. Natalie is most experienced in teaching Dressage but is also confident in teaching Jumping and Western riding. Her lessons are based on natural horsemanship and it is most important to her that both the rider and the horse are happy and able to trust and understand each other.
Sarah has been riding for over 15 years and has competed mainly in Dressage. She has competed successfully at Interschool competitions and at local competitions as a young rider. Sarah has ridden in Pony Club for several years and has also enjoyed some Showjumping and trail riding . These days, Sarah mostly rides for fun. Sarah started teaching in 2016 and recently completed her EA Introductory Coaching Certificate. Her students enjoy her gentle and effective instruction within the lessons.
Maddy has been riding at Sterntaler for 5 years and started working at Sterntaler 4 years ago. She started to become interested in teaching around a year ago.
She absolutely loves working with horses because she feels that each has their own personality with many stories to tell.
In March 2020, Maddy started University at Wagga Wagga studying for a Bachelor of Equine Science. She loves maths and science and to do this in a field/industry that she is passionate about is a dream come true for her. Even though she is not sure where she will go after Uni she believe everything happens for a reason and is happy to wait and see.
Maddy is currently working towards her Introductory Coaching Certificate.
One of the things she loves about teaching is to watching everyone grow into more accomplished riders and she enjoys seeing students experience those "light bulb" moments.
All the children love Maddy for patiently explaining all the ins and out of horse handling and giving them little jobs to do in between rides.
Helaina grew up in the United States where she had her first exposure to horses, living right across from a barrel racing barn. At about 11 years old she started taking lessons and took to it quickly but never ended up competing. Eventually she moved on to another barn that was more focused on Western Pleasure and Cutting. There she had the opportunity to really explore how horses work and train in a variety of skills from halter training to groundwork to riding. She developed a strong passion for working 'with' the horse, not 'at them' as she has seen commonly in the industry. She has developed a training method that is both gentle and thorough to educate horses. From there she tried everything from Dressage, bareback, and Showjumping to horse vaulting and horse archery. While she has never had a horse of her own, she is very much inspired to help people with their horses and to teach riders to work well with their horses and connect with them. Horses really are amazing creatures and she loves to see a flourishing partnership between horse and rider!
Gabby started her riding career here at Sterntaler and has been riding for 3 years . She competes in Dressage on her lovely leased horse Ivy. Gabby is a very eager learner and is always looking to improve her riding and knowledge. She loves watching the lessons of our guest instructors and is always keen to observe. Gabby is very passionate about teaching and she loves the idea that she can give others the same amazing experiences she has enjoyed at Sterntaler. The children and adults enjoy her friendly and encouraging lessons.
